Selecting Your Installation Type

This blog provides 3 different installation scenarios

#1- Your computer is equipped with a disc drive (then follow steps 1-7)

#s 2 & 3- Your computer does not come equipped with a disc drive (then follow the directions found below step 7 to determine whether or not you have a preloaded trial of Microsoft Office already on your computer)

Step 1: Locate & Record the Product Keycode

On the back of the media holder you will find a yellow sticker that contains your product keycode. Keep this code handy, as you will need to refer to it during the setup process. You may even want to record this code & keep it in a safe spot, in case you need it in the future.

Step 2: Insert the Installation CD


Insert the Microsoft Office 2007 Installation CD/DVD into your computer's CD/DVD- ROM drive. After a few Seconds, the Office 2007 setup screen should appear.

Troubleshooting Tip:

If the setup screen does not appear, go to start > My Computer & double click on the icon that says office underneath it (located in the (D :) drive).

Once you have opened the office software by double clicking it, a new screen will appear; which will list all of the items found on the installation CD, you want to locate & double click on the setup icon (last item in right column).




Step 3: Enter the Product Key


The next screen will prompt you to enter your product key. Type in the 25- character product key correctly (hyphens are added automatically). Once completed, click the continue button (found in the bottom right hand corner of screen).









Step 4:

The next screen will ask you to read the Microsoft Software Licensing terms. Once you have done so, click the box next to "I accept the terms of this agreement." To continue, click the continue box in lower right hand corner.

Step 5: Installation Options



The next screen will allow you to choose from 2 different types of installation (Install Now & Customize) for the purposes of this tutorial we will use the Install Now option. So, proceed by clicking the Install Now button

Step 6: Installation Progress

Once you have clicked "install now" ont he previous screen the installation process will begin. During this phase, a progress bar will appear on your screen letting you know that office 2007 is being installed on your computer (be patient, this may take some time to complete depending on your computers specifications).



Step 7: Installation


Success! The next screen will let you know that Microsoft office 2007 has installed on your computer. At this point, you will have the option to "Go to Office Online" or "close." If you select visit online you can learn about additional products & servoces offered by Microsoft.

Troubleshooting: No Disc Drive?

If your computer does not have a disc drive, you can install the software on your computer by either unlocking a preloaded trial or downloading the software on-line.

To check if the Office Home & Student 2007 trial is preloaded on your computer, click Start> All Programs. If you see Microsoft Office the trial is preloaded.

If Your Trial is Preloaded

If your trial is preloaded, open Microsoft Word & follow steps 3- 7 above to unlock the software & activate your license.

If The Trial Is NOT Preloaded

Go to http://www.getmicrosoftoffice.com/ & select Microsoft Office Home & Student 2007

Download the File

Begin the download by clicking on the "Download Now" button.
**You will be asked to allow installation of a download manager (either ActiveX Control or the Java applet), by doing so ensures thatyour software will down load properly. Simply click "continue/ allow/ ok" when prompted.**

Locating the Downloaded & Installing Software

The download will appear either on your desktop, or in your downloads folder. Once you have located the file, double click it & the software will begin to install.

Now, you can simply follow steps 3-7 to complete the installation process.
